As I said above, I didn’t do any research about The Island. Many of you did. It appears that this movie is based on the film Parts: The Clonus Horror. Hopefully this clone will be higher rated than the http://imdb.com/title/tt0078062/
Thanks to all of you who were willing to go the extra mile and shed some light on this.

Okay, so it happened again.
Phillip K. Dick had no hand in Johnny Mnemonic. The original short story was written by William Gibson.
I don’t know how I missed this because I even went to the Johnny Mnemonic page at IMDB to look at the writing credits, but my mind must have clouded over Gibson’s name and replaced it with Dick’s.
The mind does funny things at 1:00 in the morning.
I’m slipping.
I wanted to let everyone know that I’ve updated my information regarding my appearance at Wizard World Chicago. You can learn everything from what time I’ll arrive, to where you can find my booth, to what we’ll be doing after the shows if you want to hang out all right here. Rather than type it all out a second time, I just wanted to call your attention to it.
Last year I needed a little bit of help getting to Chicago after Truman came down with his mystery intestional ailment and we have to perform emergency exploritory surgery on him.
Luckily, we’ve had no such crisis this year and my money situation is looking pretty good in terms of getting me to Chicago and back. But if you’re unable to make it to Wizard World Chicago and want to show me a little support, feel free to donate a little gas money. I’m looking at a 6 hour drive each way and I’m sure I’ll need it.
Maybe that’s kind of skeevy to ask, but the worst you can say is “No,” right? Besides, it’s not like you won’t be compensated for your generosity. Learn more about that and The Walk of Fame here.
Thanks to everyone for their support! I hope to see as many of you in Chicago as possible!

I just wanted to take a moment and send my sincere thoughts out to my good friend Zach Miller in acknowledgement of his first anniversary with Joe and Monkey.
Zach has been kicking ass this year, holding fast and true to his insane schedule of a new comic every day of the week. He’s managed to balance his workload and continue to pump out quality strips. His art has improved and his writing is better than ever.
This is no small task.
I remember when there would sometimes be months between updates back when he was doing No Pants Tuesday and how upset I would get about it. I loved that comic almost as much as I love Joe and Monkey. It angered me that I had to wait so long between comics.
Zach, consider yourself absolved!
Zach has been working on a book that collects the first year of Joe and Monkey and it will get its d…

The fourth panel in today’s comic kind of comes out of nowhere. So to make sure everyone is on the same page, that’s Ben Affleck Jared is beating up there.
Y’know. Because it’s supposed to be a dream sequence after all.
Does anyone want to allegorically take a jump with their liberal white guilt in the General Lee? Because now I find myself wishing that was actually possible. We should be friends – me and my guilt.
Just wanted to send a quick shout-out to the newly formed Boxcar Comics – a new web comic collective that launched on Monday. I have a lot of personal friends who have hooked up with Boxcar and the rest of their stable is rounded out by a bevy talented artists and writers. I know these guys are going to do a great job motivating each other to improve their work and bring attention to the great stuff they’re producing. I just wanted to say “good luck,” so… “GOOD LUCK, GUYS!”

This isn’t the first time Tom has taken flight. It isn’t the first time he’s seen a movie with his web comic contemporaries, either. But as I place great importance on tradition, so goes today’s strip.
For the record, great thanks must be extended to the fabulous Joe “I’m So Fast I’m Already” Dunn who not only helped whip up the punch line of today’s comic, but also added some compositional suggestions to the last panel.
Anyone who dares to doubt that Joe is the most talented man in web comics needs only sit next to him for 15 minutes. The man works so fast and with such precision, the fact that he’s able to churn out work for four to five web comics a week starts to come into focus. Seriously. The man doesn’t even pencil out his work first. He reaches straight for an ink brush. He’s THAT good. I’m hoping that by hanging around him for those four days at the con that I can absorb a little of that talent. I don’t know how. By osmosis or sumthin’.

Wanna know something cool that I learned? I was looking at the list of Live Journal syndicated feeds and learned that Theater Hopper’s syndication feed is #271 on the list. And that’s for ALL the internet, baby! Pretty cool!
Sure, we might not be like Mitch and be #19 onthe list , but #271 is pretty good, too!
The one thing that irks me, though…Al-Jazeera was number #228 on the list. That doesn’t seem right, does it?
Let’s see if we can get the TH syndication feed above Al-Jazeera, can we? Just follow this link and add us to your LiveJournal friends page so that you can see all the comic and blog updates as soon as they are posted to the site.
Or… y’know…the terrorists win, ‘n stuff…

Hey, gang. I’m participating in a community interview (time and date to be determined) for the upstart news outlet The Webcomics Press. These guys just started out, but I think they have a really good infrastructure in place to keep people up to date in our little corner of the internet. Be sure to check them out.
At any rate, if you would like to submit questions that the interviewers will pose to yours truly, follow this link, sign up in their forums and fire away.
Do you have a question about the future of Theater Hopper? Wondering if I’ll be introducing any new characters? Scratching your head and wondering where Charlie ran off to? This is your opportunity to hold my feet to the fire and ask the unabashed, shameless questions that would make Barbara Walters wince with delight.

I would just like to share the tonight I am seeing The Aging Alternative Icon and my personal hero Henry Rollins perform an evening of spoken word at Stephens Auditorium in Ames. It’s about an hour drive away for me, but it’ll be totally worth it.
Only downside is that Ames is home to Iowa State University and tomorrow is a big football came between their cross-state rivals at the University of Iowa. Everyone and their Dad is going to be in Ames for the weekend. It’s going to be tough finding a place to eat.
I’ve seen Rollins do spoken word about 7 or 8 times now and always get a big kick out of it. This is going to be hugely inspirational for me. A kick in the ass at the exact time I need it.
I met him once after a show in 1997. Got a picture, too. I think tonight I’m going to try and repeat history and get an updated photo.
Very exciting!
