Hey, guys. I know this is extraordinarily short notice, but it was one of those happy accidents that just cropped up at the last minute and I wanted to let you know about it.
In celebration of National Treasure: Book of Secrets being released in theaters this Friday, Disney has also released a brand new 2-disc collectors edition of National Treasure on DVD this Tuesday, December 18.

This thing is loaded to the hilt with features. Four brand new documentary shorts, deleted scenes, an alternate ending and a slew of featurettes that go further behind the scenes!
You’ll have a chance to win a copy of your very own by listening to The Triple Feature talkcast tonight at 9:00 PM CST.
The last few weeks we’ve been doing call-in trivia contests. I didn’t have enough time to prep any questions this week, so that means we’ll probably do our old standby routine – I drop one half a clue in the broadcast and you come back here on Wednesday for the second half of the clue. Send the completed clue along with your name and e-mail address to theaterhopper@hotmail.com and one winner will be chosen at random!
Be sure to dial in and listen to the show live tonight. We’ll be talking about I Am Legend, Atonement, The Kite Runner and the brand new trailer for The Dark Knight!
Be there!

If you listened to The Triple Feature last night (and if you missed it, don’t worry – just subscribe to our feed on iTunes!) you’ll know that Gordon, Joe and I made our official Oscar picks in advance of the televised broadcast this Sunday. We decided to make it interesting by making a tiny wager. The two people with the least amount of correct predictions has to draw a guest strip for a winning artist. So if Gordon gets the most correct, Joe and I have to draw him a guest strip. Kind of fun, right?
Part of that agreement was that the three of us would post our marked Oscar ballots and submit them to public record. That way, it keeps everyone honest. No last minute changes before or during the broadcast.
My ballot is kind of large, so you’ll have to click here to view it. But it’s there for anyone who is interested.
I think most of the major categories are already sewn up. But I voted for a few dark horse contenders after looking at a few statistical averages and trends among Academy votes in the past. As far as the technical categories go, I have a theory that I’m hoping pays off. Where I get really lost is in the documentary and short film categories.
You’ll have to take a look at my ballot and tell me what you think. Do you think I have a shot at winning our little competition?

As some of you know, I’m in the middle of pursuing my Master’s degree. Y’know, because a full-time job, a two year-old and a comic I’m updating three times a week isn’t enough to keep me busy.
As part of my degree, I am taking a research class. For our final paper, we can write about any subject that we find interesting so long as we support it with research.
I’m writing a paper about the decline of print publication and the rise of online news sources – specifically as it pertains to film criticism. Within that larger topic, I am trying to uncover the value opinion leaders place on film criticism – do they turn to it as a resource and how to they regard print versus online?
The survey is 4 pages and about 30 questions long. Mostly “yes” or “no” questions. Nothing complicated.
It would really mean a lot to me if you would participate in this survey. I’m hoping to use you guys as a resource, not only as opinion leaders but as the means to wow my professor with by returning big numbers in the survey results.
If you’d like to take the survey, you can do so by clicking here.
To provide you with incentive, I will be choosing one survey participant at random to win a FREE t-shirt and FREE book. All you have to do is submit your e-mail address at the end if you want a chance to win. If you don’t want to give me your e-mail address. That’s fine, too. It’s totally voluntary and you can remain anonymous if you wish.
What’s important to me is that you take five minutes to fill it out. I would be very grateful.
Thank you.

I posted the red band trailer for Funny People on Wednesday and informally polled people if they were interested in seeing more of the promotional communication sent my way by the studios. I’ve been reluctant to post them partially because of the time commitment but largely because I assumed you guys were getting this information elsewhere.
I was surprised by how many of you said that Theater Hopper was the only site you go to for movie news. Which is… really flattering. Actually, it makes me feel like I’ve been lying down on the job!
So, until people tell me otherwise, I’m going to keep floating stuff your way. And, at the risk of looking like a complete hypocrite, here’s some stuff for Bruno. Which, as you know, is in theaters today, Friday, July 10.
