I’ve decided to also get off the grid as far as Iron Man 2 is concerned. I’m worried if I see too much, I might get too excited for the movie and it’ll somehow let me down.
“I can’t tell if it’s because the trailer is well made or if it’s just pushing the Parent Button.”
I’d have to go solidly with the “Parent Button,” because I had to sit through the trailer for that a few days ago in advance of “Oceans” and I cringed the whole way through.
My goodness, I am a college student and when I saw that trailer my heart melted into a pile of goo. It made me want to go out, get a boyfriend, get married, and have babies at that moment. And I am a perfectly happy single!
And I am excited about Iron Man… with the strong fear of disappointment that I can never shake in regards to sequels. Seriously, as soon as I hear sequel my mind does this ‘shut down, lose interest’ thing. Too many bad ones. Though Iron Man should be awesome.
So I scanned some of the previous posts, and didn’t see it mentioned, and I know this isn’t really a comment on today’s comic(which is probably my favorite of this run so far) but I noticed the other day that Dr. peppers is doing a run of iron man cans, 4 different styles. I’m sure you’re allready aware of it but figured I’d let you know.
Oh and my wife had the same reaction to the babies trailer… She’ll go along to Iron Man 2 on Friday, and she’s dragging me to Babies on Saturday/Sunday.
Ah. That explains the “Iron Man 2” tags on the “Whiplash Whopper” posters at Burger King I saw last night. Can you tell I don’t follow either franchise (IM or BK) closely?
You should have Jimmy as Justin Hammer. Also, please let this arc last, at least, another week.
OK, so, my lock-down mode is pretty good, so far. With Marvel releasing like 12 more screenshots((and Whiplash in full armor)), it was hard to resist…but I resisted. However, I broke down and looked at some of the artwork from a preview of that book “The Art of ‘Iron Man 2′”. As for TV spots: I only have ABC and fox, and only watch in the morning and evening. I’ve seen one TV spot that I hadn’t seen before, and all that was new was more of Scarlett’s voice and a shot of Nick Fury.
Iron Man II totally trumps Babies even though I want to see both. I was thinking of taking my mom to see Babies for Mother’s Day but have decided that I don’t need anymore procreation pressure from her (part of the “blessing” of being an only child). Geesh!
I’m very thankful for DVR right now. I can record my TV shows and then fast forward through the commercials. If there are Iron Man 2 TV spots then I’ll miss them. I’ve been trying not to see anything or read anything. I want to be surprised at the things I see and not “Oh right, I read about this.” Unfortunately I’ll have to wait to see it until next week since I’ll be out of town this weekend. It’s going to be even harder to miss things during the weekend.
Check out this interview with the editors of Iron Man 2 to see how they put everything together. Don’t worry, it doesn’t include any footage that wasn’t in the first two trailers and doesn’t give anything away.
I am super excited for Iron Man 2 and I’ve pretty much been avoiding everything concerning the interviews, trailers, clips, etc.
Babies looks pretty interesting, but I won’t see it in theaters.
I don’t dislike kids by any means, but I generally feel pretty awkward around them, and I’m definitely not the broody type. But I thought that the Babies trailer was sweet, amusing, and actually looked pretty interesting, seeing the cultural differences and similarities as they relate to the birth process and childrearing. So while I imagine the Parent Button factors strongly into it your interest, and perhaps makes it stronger than mine, you don’t need to be a parent to find it intriguing (and it’s not just a girl thing, because my hubby thought it looked interesting, too). 🙂
I am totally down for Iron Man 2, and when my boyfriend said his friend asked to see it with him I said “BUT YOU SAID YOU WOULD SEE IT WITH ME!”
I actually hadn’t heard of Babies until now. I don’t have kids, and the trailer made me go “aw” at the beginning, but then they started biting each other and it wasn’t so cute.
I’m in total media blackout as fast as Iron Man 2 is concerned . . . which is difficult seeing as every movie, comicbook and multimedia website that I visit has Iron Man 2 stories and headlines buzzing around.
If I see an IM2 image I have to ‘hide’ it ( with my hand that is ) and avoid the subject all together b/c I don’t want to risk temptation and see too many sneak peeks ( like I did with X-2 . . god it felt like I saw 1/2 the movie before I went to the theater )
Well I saw it last night (I’m in Australia) and, not going to give anything away but, I loved it!!! Was definitely worth it. Not going to say anymore because I don’t want to give any spoilers. Will be going to see it again though.
I saw it last night; Tom, you aren’t going to be disappointed, hang around until after the credits for an extra treat ( apart from hearing Highway To Hell )… Scarlett Johansen was as wooden as ever, proving my theory that she doesn’t get hired for acting ability, and as for Jackson being annoying, well that’s Nick Fury, an annoying smartarse. As a tradeoff, I must now accompany my partner to the next Twilight film *shudders*
I know it isn’t, but in the interests of preserving domestic harmony I will grit my teeth through two hours of teeny bloodless gutless vampire tripe. If only the cinema would put a Tetsuo double bill on, or Gozu, The Happiness of the Katakuris and Audition triple bill, that would be worth it- just.
There are some cities where Iron Man is playing back to back with Iron Man 2 tonight (at AMC theaters). A bunch of my friends and I are gonna go see it. And then I’m going to go see it AGAIN tomorrow, because one of my friends can’t make it to tonight’s showing. It’s gonna be a BLAST.

I think it pushes the ‘parent’ and ‘girl’ button.

(That said, TOTALLY looking forward to Iron Man 2!) 😀

Oh snap, time to kick his can!
i saw it yesterday (germany). you won´t be disappointed.
a very beautiful scarlett johannson and a completely annoying samuel L. Jackson

Be strong, mate!
Just think of Iron Man and block Twilight out of your mind as best you can.
As good as I’m sure Iron Man is, I’m not sure having to sit through a Twilight movie is worth it.

The first half of the Babies trailer confirms what I’ve been suspecting for years: babies are jerks regardless of nationality.
As for IM: months ago I asked for tomorrow off work.

My wife wants to see babies. We’re 8 weeks away from having our own, so it’s perfect timing to just build the hype for her til our own baby arrives.
Iron man was premiered last friday (apr. 30th) here in México, I saw it last night, it was pretty good, kept me laughing and wishing for a suit
My mom just told me she wouldn’t pay to see Babies, since you can watch tons of videos about babies for free on youtube.
