This is kind of a sticky wicket and I totally forgot about it when I pre-posted today’s blog.
Originally, I had it in my head that I would draw a buzzComix incentive sketch for each of the artists who were doing guest strips for me. For example, Michael Lalonde did a guest strip for me Monday, so as a mini-thanks, I drew Orneryboy.
Well, that’s not going to really work for today’s strip. Or Friday’s strip. Or Monday’s strip, for that matter.
See, since I’ll be out of town until next week, I won’t be around to update the remote link over at buzzComix so you guys will get a new image on those days.
So here’s how I propose to solve this problem. I’m drawing the creations of the next three artists in one, giant incentive sketch. If you vote for Theater Hopper once, you’ll have seen everything you need to see. I won’t be able to update it again until next Wednesday. But if you continue to show your support and keep Theater Hopper near the top of the Top 10 list, I will be very grateful.
Anyway, I didn’t want to tip my hand so soon, but the buzzComix incentive sketch you’ll become familiar with in the next week features characters from Kidnemo’s Comet7, Sam Logan’s Sam & Fuzzy and Mighty Mitch Clem’s Nothing Nice to Say.
Many thanks and enjoy!

Perhaps it is the optimist in me, but it would appear that buzzComix has resolved its hosting issues that prevented you guys for voting for Theater Hopper and getting us into the Top 10.
Well, right now, we’re kind of hovering around unlucky number 13. Let’s see if we can change that, shall we?
And let’s hope buzzComix doesn’t make a liar out of me when it comes to that hosting problem they have…

Today’s Webcomics List incentive sketch is a little bit of an inside joke. It’s a playful jab at the the well-publicized musical tastes of my fellow Dayfree Press brethren Mitch Clem and Jeph Jacques.
And by the way – If you vote for Theater Hopper, view the sketch and take it seriously, then you might want to check your sarcasm dip stick. Because you might be a quart low…
I’ll be back later with another diatribe – this time with my sights set square on the complete sham Madison Avenue wraps up in a glittery bow and calls The MTV Movie Awards.
Easy pickings, I know. But it’s a Friday, so cut me some slack.
Stay tuned.

In my earlier post, I talked about my re-affiliation with TopWebComics.com and I wanted to take a minute to explain to everyone what it is and what my goals are.
People who have been visiting the site for a while remember that I was once affiliated with Top Web Comics. For the uninitiated, the site is a web comic promotion tool that gather votes submitted by readers and ranks the most “popular” comics on their homepage.
Top Web Comics was helpful resource when I was getting my start. It put the comic in front of a lot of readers as I ascended into the Top 10. I walked away from the ranking sites once I felt Theater Hopper could stand on it’s own two legs.
It’s been a few years since Theater Hopper and Top Web Comics parted ways. In that time, some readers have moved past web comics as part of their daily routine. Other people are being introduced to web comics for the first time. Now is a perfect opportunity to familiarize Theater Hopper with the next wave of readers and Top Web Comics is part of that strategy.
Here’s how it works: I post a new comic every Monday, Wednesday and Friday just like I always do. But in the blog post, there will be a link to Top Web Comics where you can “vote” for Theater Hopper and contribute to it’s higher ranking.
For you’re trouble, you’ll be treated to a bonus sketch that may or may not be related to that day’s comic. It might be an addition to the punchline or a little extra scene. People who own a copy of Theater Hopper – Year Two will know what to expect. I collected several similar sketches from my previous tenure with Top Web Comics in that edition.
If you don’t want to vote, that’s fine. If you do want to vote, that’s great! It’s totally voluntary. But voting for Theater Hopper helps the site by raising its ranking on Top Web Comics and potentially bringing in new readers. Basically, it’s a very high profile opportunity for some free advertising that I’m not going to pass up.
I should also mention that I’m thinking about selling these bonus sketches in the store sometime in the near future. So if you vote for the comic and see a sketch you like, there will be an opportunity for you to own it at a very affordable price. Look for updates on that in the future.
So there you have it. Pretty cut and dried. Now you know why I’m affiliated with Top Web Comics again and you also know what additional value you get out of the arrangement.
I want to say thanks to the people who have already voted. So far, we’re up to #18 on the list. That’s really good! Now let’s see if we can crack the Top 10 in the next few days.
In the meantime, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to leave them in the comments area below. I’d be happy to continue the conversation there.
Thanks!

It occurred to me that I forgot to upload the incentive image I normally use to bribe you into voting for me over at Top Web Comics. So it makes sense that I should maybe get on that. I’ve uploaded the image and you can view it when you vote for Theater Hopper at Top Web Comics.
For those of you who felt hoodwinked by Monday’s incentive “surprise,” you’ll be pleased to know that Wednesday’s incentive image is just a straight-up action shot of Wolverine. Scout’s Honor.
I’ve created an image to go with the blog that will help the link to Top Web Comics stand out more. The idea will be to change the image behind the check mark for each new incentive sketch so you get a little preview when it updates.
Top Web Comics has an option to use a text link that displays the comic ranking. You can see I’ve made room for it on the image but I haven’t figured out how to code that in just yet. Here’s the link if anyone is interested: http://topwebcomics.com/rankimages/plaintext.aspx?comicid=6537 I’m trying to figure out if size, color and placement of the rank number can be controlled with CSS. If anyone has any bright ideas, leave your comments below!
Thanks!
