So the first week of Theater Hopper has come to a close. I have to say it’s been a moderate success. Thanks to everyone who has visited the site. Here’s to many more hits in my counter. Er, I mean… laughs and ever-loving friendship! Yea, that’s the ticket!
Today’s strip is basically an indication of how badly my wife doesn’t want to see XXX.
That’s right, I said wife. I really haven’t made any attempt to explain it in the past, but like most strips, the characters are representative of real people in my life. The blond haired fella is supposed to be me, the woman (obviously) is my wife Cami. She asked to be in a strip and she got her wish.
The brown haired dude you saw in the last two strips was the toon alter-ego of my good friend Jared. As far as I know, he never asked to be immortalized in four-color glory, but sometimes life throws us curve balls, y’know?
Whether or not these are the names of the characters, I’ll leave that up to you to decide. I may end up giving them different names down the line – I may just leave them nameless. If you have an opinion in the matter, post it in the forums. Better still, you can now e-mail me at theaterhopper@hotmail.com. I finally got Microsoft Outlook to work, so I can now receive all your comments.
Speaking of which, if you have any suggestions on how to make the site better, I’m more than willing to listen. I’m thinking about adding a section underneath the blog area for movie news. If you can think of any other features I can add, send them in.
One last bit of business and then I’ll let you go about your merry way.
I’ve got to give major shout-outs to a few people who linked to me in their news blogs and for whom I would like to return the favor. Each of them run awesome strips and you need to check them out immediately.
Muchos gracias to:

Regular gracias to these fellas for being such extra nice guys:

Ten points to the first person who guesses the movie that today’s comic title is referencing.
Before I commence with the blogging, I gotta warn you, today’s buzzComix incentive sketch is probably the most disturbing thing you’ve seen from me in a while. If you don’t want to start your Monday on a sour note, DON’T CLICK THIS LINK!
I think today’s estrogen-inspired comic is funnier to me considering that Jared and I had a genuine guys-night-out on Saturday. We went to see a regional hockey game, had a whole lot of beer, then went to a sports bar and had a whole lot more beer and didn’t go home until close to 2 in the morning. So monly!
It’s sweet when the wives let us get away for a while…
Big burly action guys doing soft and fuzzy family comedies is nothing new. Schwarzenegger did it first with Kindergarten Cop. Stallone followed suit with a lesser degree with Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. Heck, even old-school action guy Burt Reynolds did Cop and A Half. So I guess it should be no surprise when action guys with a sagging career like Vin Diesel follow the same formula.
For my money, Vin should stick to doing voice-overs for giant robots.
And by the way, what narcotic was America collectively under the spell of to give The Pacifier a $30 million opening weekend? Geeze, people!
Something that I got a big kick out of was seeing Aikida back in action. I don’t know where Fenris learned his new coloring technique, but I want to steal a page from that book!
Also, I just wanted to give a quick shout-out to Bernie over at Alien Loves Predator who recently announced that he and his wife will be having twins! Congrats, Bernie!
If you’re curious what a car with a Vin Diesel navigation system might be like, I drew a sketch that you can view if you vote for Theater Hopper over at Top Web Comics. (I’ll be talking about my affiliation with Top Web Comics in another post. So stay tuned for that).
As it pertains to this weekend’s Fast & Furious (note the conspicuous absence of the word “The”), we spent a little time discussing the tag line on Monday night’s episode of The Triple Feature.
All three of us are excited for this movie and no one is more surprised by that than I am. I’m not really a car guy and I was also kind of annoyed by the super-modding trend that seemed to take hold after the original movie came out. Don’t even get me started on Tokyo Drift. What a pile of garbage that film was!
But the original movie was an engaging twist on the action genre and I have to admit my heart fluttered a little bit when I learned that they were able to bring back everyone in the original cast.
Then again, when you’ve been stuck in movies like The Pacifier, Into The Blue, D.E.B.S. and BloodRayne for the better part of a decade, it makes sense to show up in a film like this. I guess you CAN go home again.
I’ll be at the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle this weekend, so I don’t know if I’ll have an opportunity to see Fast & Furious. My time off the show floor will probably be spent doing something else. I mean, I love movies. But I’ve also never been to Seattle. So it would be kind of lame if I spent two hours watching Vin Diesel flex instead of… I dunno… drinking a Starbucks coffee.
If you’re planning on attending Emerald City Comicon, don’t forget to visit me on Artist Alley. I’m in the back, near the gaming area at table H-05. Here’s a link to a map of the show floor. I’m on the opposite side of the entrance, so just skip past all those other exhibitors and retailers and see me first! I’ll be selling copies of Theater Hopper Year One and Year Two, plus my Spoiler I and II t-shirts and also original sketches. I have limited inventory since I’m only bringing what I can cram into a suitcase. So if you have your eye on something, be sure to get there early!
Or, just come by and chat me up for a while! I’m very interested to talk to my West Coast fans and I’ll sign anything you like.
Don’t forget that I will also be sitting on the Business of Webcomics panel at 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 5 in panel room 3AB with Robert Khoo from Penny Arcade, Danielle Corsetto from Girls With Slingshots and Jeph Jacques from Questionable Content. I’m really looking forward to it. It’ll be a good time.
That’s pretty much all I have for the moment. Be sure to check back later in the day for an brief post about my re-affiliation with TopWebComics.com.
Talk to you soon!
