I thought I would take the opportunity to stumble in here this morning to wish a happy-belated-digital birthday to my wife Cami. Her birthday was Sunday and I wanted to declare my love and well wishes in front of the world! Happy Birthday, honey!
I won’t divulge her age because a gentleman never speaks for a lady. I also won’t give out her work e-mail address so everyone can send her birthday wishes because that’s just common sense.
HOWEVER, if you’d like to swing over to the forums, she has an account there and you can wish her well through her personal message box. I don’t know how often she goes into the forums to check those things, but maybe now that I’ve put out the call for response front and center, she’ll drop by and pick up her messages. Maybe if you’re REALLY nice, she might put together her first post for this area!
Shout-outs to a couple of new link-buddies.
Be sure to check out The Misc. I think the writing is really sharp. The art has attitude and you can tell these guys are having fun.
Also stop and visit Tribbel. Their site design is rock-solid and I was immediately attracted to it. The strip is also very cute and nicely put together. Props to the Tribbel crew for the introductory Flash movie that starts things off right. Makes me wish I came up with it first… or knew Flash.

Okay, I’ll admit that today’s comic isn’t “wet-your-pants” funny, but I’ll be damned if I was going to pass up an opportunity to win some points by doing a birthday comic for Cami on her actual birthday.
For those of you who sent birthday wishes from Friday’s post, Cami has read them all and thanks you. It just goes to show what an awesome fan base we have.
That’s why I feel so crappy for being late on the comic. The Labor Day holiday had something to do with it, but add the big birthday blowout into the mix and it all adds up to about 4 hours in the house total this weekend. We’ve been catching up with family and friends from out of town and have eaten about a dozen birthday dinners. Good times, good times.
I hope you had a great holiday weekend, too.
Be sure to check back tomorrow – I have some news relating to the site you should know about.
::Tear rolls down cheek::
Tom, did you happen to see what I gave Cami for her birthday?
Apparently I’m an 8 year old, though the money thing is true.
ahhh
::sucks it up::
Anyway, I saw Freddy vs Jason on Friday. I found it good for a laugh. Though it was gory, I didn’t find it scary. There is a kid in it that wants to be Silent Bob’s friend sooooo bad.
I’d like to give a shout out to my friend Pete, the $60 man. He’s getting married this weekend and it should be a blast.

Happy 200 strips Theater Hopper!
Happy Birthday Nick!
I am looking forward to a weekend of fun. My good friend and fellow blogger Nick is turning another year older on Saturday. I am helping him celebrate by honoring him with my presence. Birthday presence.
What? …presents? …yeah, right.
::runs to store::
Anyway, we are going to see Mike Doughty in MN and plan to generally have a kick ass time.
I can already taste the Grain Belt.
Mmmmmm…

No blog just yet because it’s 1:00 in the morning. I really wish I could write these out in advance, but frankly, I’m not that smart.
I had a crazy movie weekend and watched Million Dollar Baby, Sideways and Garden State on DVD in the span of 24 hours. I want to talk to you about it, but I’d like to wait until I don’t have to pause for 30 seconds between each word to make sure the spelling looks right.
In the meantime, why don’t you vote for Theater Hopper at buzzComix. Today’s incentive sketch isn’t comic-related, but instead a portrait of my beagle Truman. He’s made a few appearances in the comic in days of yore. Tuesday is his birthday. He turns 3. I love that little furry freak.

When it’s your birthday, you get to eat lots of cake. The whole cake, if you’re so inclined!
Yes, today is Truman’s birthday. Not the day that we adopted him, mind you. But his actual birthday. We have a birth certificat from the American Kennel Club and everything. He turned four as of 12:01 this morning.
I’ll try not to be one of those creepy dog people who has the pet they adore as if it were their own child, but I’m always cognisant of these little milestones. I sometimes think about my life in terms of a B.T. and A.T. timeline – "Before Truman" and "After Truman."
Sure, he may have recently chewed up my Nintendo DS, but I still love the little dickens!
To celebrate the occasion, I wanted to announce a TWO WEEK PRE-SALE on t-shirts and baby doll tees going on in the store. As you know, I recently liquidated my inventory to make room for some new designs. Well, the new designs are finally here! I strongly encourage you to check them out. I was very pleased with the results. What do you think?
I should also make you guys aware that the baby-doll version of these designs come in different color combinations. So you ladies will have yet another asset when it comes to driving the boys crazy… with JEALOUSY!
I should also make note that an oldie-but-a-goodie has also reared its head in the store. That’s right, I’ve brought back the "Spoiler" shirt. So if you’re still one of the unlucky few who hasn’t gotten their hands on one of these yet, now is the time to do it!
As I mentioned earlier, THIS IS A PRE-SALE taking place for TWO WEEKS between Wednesday, February 22 and Wednesday, March 8. After which, I will remove these designs from the store and process the orders through my printer. It is my hope that my printer can turn around these shirts in a timely manner – perhaps as early as two weeks after March 8 – so that I can start delivering them the week of March 27.
So to recap, that’s 2 weeks for pre-order, 2 weeks for the printer to produce the shirts and 1 week for me to send everything out.
This time out I am being very conscientious about setting standards and explainations so there is no confusion as to when you will receive your shirt. If anything changes between now and then, I will be sure to let you know in this blog space.
I’m very excited about these new designs and I hope you are, too. I finally feel as though I’ve reached a new level with my shirt designs and these are designs that I’m eager to get back from the printer because I want to wear them myself!
If you guys have questions, feel free to drop me a line. Thanks again for your continued support!
This was a post I was supposed to write yesterday. But due to a hectic, stressful and overloaded schedule, it didn’t happen.
Yesterday was my son Henry’s birthday. And as I did the year before, I thought it would be nice to post a picture of the little guy so everyone can see how he’s doing.
Henry is doing very well having recently had tubes put in his ears for the second time and his adenoids removed to correct chronic ear infections he was having earlier in the winter.
Since Henry turned 2, we finally cut him off from pacifiers and we’re dealing with the ramifications of that right now. He really didn’t use them very often except when we put him down at night and he would use them to calm himself down. Now that they’re gone, he has to find other methods to relax. So he’s been shooting heroin into his eyeballs for about a week now.
I kid! I kid!
Every Saturday we take Henry to a music class where he learns rhythm, songs and dancing to a beat. It’s been paying off. He often sings “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and it’s tonal doppleganger, The ABC song.
He’s a bundle of energy, that’s for sure. HIGHLY verbal and bossing us around already. He’s deeply addicted to Mickey Mouse Club on the Disney Channel and listening to Daft Punk in the car. In fact, he demands them by name! Well, almost. “Robot rock, Daddy!”
My son is awesome.
Happy birthday, buddy.

I don’t know that I have anything specific to say about Monday’s comic except that there is a genuine level of excitement for Pixar releases that is mutual between Cami and I in our household. We look forward to them every year – both in the theaters and on DVD. We were fortunate enough to get an extra helping of Pixar a couple of weeks ago when Toy Story was back in theaters. It was kind of like Christmas in July at our house.
Up comes out on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow and I’m excited to talk about it. I have to hold back, however, because I’m reviewing a copy sent to me last week that will be posted to the site on Tuesday.
Without getting too specific, the Blu-ray looks phenomenal and the bonus material is very insightful. I always felt like co-writers/directors Pete Docter and Bob Peterson had built layers into Up – some that were obvious and some that were not. So it’s very interesting to watch the behind-the-scenes documentaries and the character development that occurred.
There is an excellent alternate scene/animatic called “Married Life” that plays out in great conceptual detail an altogether different montage events in the marriage between Carl Fredricksen and his beloved wife Ellie. That montage delivers an emotional sucker punch in the finished movie and I am pleased to report that even the alternate montage still packs a wallop.
I think it’s a testament to the storytelling going on her that allows you to become so invested in these characters early on, without a word of dialogue spoken. Even when the details are changed, it’s still fantastic.
We might talk a little bit about Up on tonight’s The Triple Feature – I don’t know.
I know Joe saw both A Christmas Carol and The Box, so hopefully he has some insights on those two movies that he’d like to share. Otherwise, it’s a bit of a crapshoot!
I hope you’ll join us as we record the show live, tonight at 9:00 PM over at Talkshoe. Fell free to submit any questions or suggestions for topics of discussion to group@thetriplefeature.com. You can also communicate with us through our Facebook page.
See you later!
The first post was running a little long, so I thought I would break thing up a little bit before talking about the fund raising campaign for Theater Hopper: Year Three.
You guys are kicking all kinds of ass with the pledges lately. Thank you so much! On Friday, we were 52% funded. Now we’re 62% funded! We making big gains, but we only have 17 days left to make goal.
Let me put this out there for you… Next week – Monday, December 21 – is my 32nd birthday. It would be a real treat if we could raise $324 by then. With that amount, we’d be up to $2,500 pledged and that would put us $1,000 away from goal with 10 days left in the campaign.
Extrapolate that… $1,000 with 10 days to go means that if we raised $100 a day after that, we’d be funded!
It’s all about the little things. Measurable goals, milestones. If we can take the next step now, we can take a few more steps after that!
Think about it! Let’s try to bump the campaign up to $2,500 in the next 7 days. We only need $324 to do it!
Thanks again to everyone who has pledged so far. I appreciate your support!
