Believe it or not, this is the third time that Hillstryder – Tom’s magical, flying unicorn – has appeared in the comic. I like drawing Hillstryder (which I am not sure what that says about me) but I am more entertained by the idea that a beautiful unicorn behaves like a violent, petty jerk.
I wouldn’t bother digging up How To Train Your Dragon and Clash of the Titans again if there was something better to talk about this week. But there really isn’t much going on in theaters this weekend except for Tina Fey and Steve Carell in Date Night. The movie looks good to me, but I don’t think I could write two comics about it. I mean, let’s be honest. Nope, better to relegate it to one-comic status and then hold my breath until next week when Kick-Ass comes out.
So, yeah. Not much else to talk about today. But if you like unicorns and rainbow beams, then hopefully this comic finds you well.
Thanks for swinging by. I’ll see you guys here again on Friday!
Oh, I had an argument with Hillstryder.
Hillstryder, your magical, flying unicorn?
Did you two have a falling out?
First I was telling him how much I enjoyed How To Train Your Dragon and forgot about his strong anti-dragon policy.
Then I started badmouthing Clash of the Titans and I guess he's close friends with Pegasus, or something. So he really let me have it.

@Michael Nimmo, Oh man I totally thought of the puking unicorn the second I saw the beam in his comic.
You make me do this Tom: http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html
Thanks for making me remember the song that goes with the game…
Jason you beat me to the punch! That was the first thing I thought of, too.
I dunno about Date Night but since it has Carell and Fey it’s good enough for me…
@Binkley, absolutely. My wife and I have been anticipating this movie for a while now. Absolute must see this weekend, no matter what the reviews may say. It does help that we’re both huge fans of 30 Rock, and that I’m also an avid follower of The Office (my wife doesn’t follow that one as much). I generally enjoy the movies both of those actors participate in, and having them both together seems like a perfect match. Can’t wait!!
The biggest thing that’s bugging me about Date Night (apart from it looking sort of meh in the laughs department) is they filmed it with that cheap-looking camera they used to make Public Enemies. It doesn’t do the film any good, just makes it look really, really bad.
That could be a cheap way to get a tan and color your hair. š
Saw a preview of Kick-Ass this week. It was a lot of fun š
Nice background by the way, glad to see they get outside once in awhile.
Tom sort of looks like one of the spiders from mar
HTTYD was awesome. I saw it yesterday in 3D and really enjoyed. I love how advanced the 3D tech has come. At one point I asked myself if this was in 3D or 2D because it’s really that seamless. Would have been even better though if it had a dragon eating a unicorn.
For some reason, Date Night keeps reminding me of the Out of Towners with Jack Lemmon & Sandy Dennis. I know it is a different premise but the outsider couple having trouble in the big ol’ city of NY is what I think seem so familiar.
I’m starting to notice a pattern lately of Hollywood not mentioning that a film is a remake (this probably has been going on a long time but even those in the know about films aren’t mentioning that it is a remake). The first was Repo Men which is a action/non-musical remake of Repo: A Genetic Opera. The other is due out soon, Death at a Funeral, which is a remake of the Brittish film of the same name. Heck, Peter Dinklage plays the same role in both films!
Fan of the subtle things that I am, I really liked Jared’s look of vague apprehension in panel 2. You can almost see what he’s thinking…
“Oh God Hillstryder is back. Is he going to poop on me again? I really really hope he doesn’t poop on me again.”
Yay! More Hillstryder randomness!
On a sidenote, the first appearance of Hillstryder reminded me of this equally random piece:

That last panel still cracks me up. Awesome.
My favorite part of this strip is the rainbow residue on Tom’s head. Something about that detail makes me giggle.
